2025 More Western North Carolina

Mostly beautiful hiking photos, but also some fun town activities.  In case you are interested in any of the trail details:

  • Grassy Ridge Mine Overlook - off the Blue Ridge Parkway, 3 miles, 230ft elevation gain

  • Haywood Dahlia Trail Outer Loop - at the nearby community college, 2.5 miles, 250 ft elevation gain.  It was really neat finding trails at the college (some of it was true forrest hiking and the rest was gravel paths and a rhododendron garden)

  • Buck Spring Trail - in the Pisgah National Forrest, 2.6 miles, 500 ft elevation gain.  Part of the Pisgah Inn trail complex, VERY pretty mountain views as you will see.

  • Scott Creek Overlook to Woodfin Falls - off the Blue Ridge Parkway, 4 miles, 770 ft elevation gain.

  • Deep Creek Waterfalls Loop - Great Smoky Mountains National Park, 2.4 miles, 410 ft elevation gain.  Was probably our favorite hike in the area.  You can also take this one and continue to the Deep Creek Loop, which is twice as long and double the elevation gain (!) - we went there on our last day to celebrate and got to see an extra waterfall!
