In Vino Veritas

I came to my love of wine a little bit late in life. Until my mid 30s, I pretty much thought wine was gross. At that point, I started trying a broader variety of wines, and then right around when I turned 40 the taste buds must have matured because, voila! I began to just love red wines, the "bigger" the better.

I also didn’t realize until around the same time, how much of a difference food makes when properly paired with wines. In 2010, we went on a Mediterranean cruise with friends and enjoyed wine tasting in Split, Croatia. The wines were only OK until they were each paired with a different non-obvious food and, suddenly, the wines were delightful.  It was definitely food for thought!

Between that and a birthday trip to Napa, I was well on my way to having a wonderful new hobby enjoying wines, sharing my love of wine with my friends, and exploring the best food pairings.
