2025 On the Road to Miami Beach

The plan after New Orleans was to make our way through Florida’s panhandle, down the east coast to Miami Beach over about a week. We hadn’t been to the panhandle before, so we were excited to explore a completely new (to us) part of the US. Our first stop - the Destin area, which Craig had read is an up and coming beach area. To get there, we traveled through 4 states in 4 hours of driving (Louisiana - Mississippi - Alabama - Florida) - it was very weird for me that we touched that many states in such a short amount of time (California girl, what can I say?). The other place we stayed on the way to Miami Beach was St. Augustine Beach - if you are not familiar with St. Augustine, it’s the oldest city in the US, was originally a Spanish colony and (purportedly) is the location of the fountain of youth (😜). We enjoyed the downtown/old town sight seeing, but stayed at the beach.
