Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice

Updated: Dec 15, 2024

I loved this terrible movie.  Full disclosure, I could not be a bigger fan of the original, so I was very worried about seeing this movie because I could not imagine enjoying a part 2 this many years later.  The good news - it was very true to the look and feel of the original (which was so weird 80s fantasy).  The bad news - it wasn’t well done other than that and some of the casting/acting. It was great to see Catherine O’Hara reprising her role as Delia and Willem Defoe was fun/ Jenna Ortega was great as Astrid (the daughter - you might have seen her in the new Wednesday Adams series, which is excellent). Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton were solid.

Some of my favorite bits - you’ll know it when you see it (in no particular order):

1) The soul train!

2) The sock puppet sand worm!

3) Dostoyevsky!

4) Poor Bob.

5) The piranhas 😱
